Look Whose Competiting With Google...

I was a bit shaken when i read this news in today's newspaper. It's none other than Reliance the one lead by Anil Ambani which plans to compete with Google. Nows that ridiculous, i agree that Reliance might be very successful in India and somewhat in other foreign countries, but that doesn't mean you have to go and compete with Google. They don't stand a chance.

Luckily they have got that much brains that they are not making a search engine. But they are planning to do something more foolish they are making a social networking site in order to compete with Orkut which has been taken over by Google. I agree that social networking site's are very popular in India and i should say that's the only thing that people do the internet around here (half of them don't know what's a blog). But there is no point in making a social networking site now because thousands of them came (when it was in fashion) but except few none were able to make a mark. Reliance will be directly competing with Google because Orkut is the only networking service which the people are hooked to and Reliance will be targeting the Indian crowd.

Reliance is also planning to launch their blogging service ( ha ha... ), i say with Wordpress and Blogger can anyone even think about starting blogging service ? I don't know what made them think that they stand a good chance against Google, its a waste of time and money and they should learn from other's mistakes, so many have tried to challenge Google but its just too difficult.

The president of Reliance says that they do not want to leave any space unattended in the online arena. However there is one sensible thing they are doing, Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group plans to start its exclusive gaming stations under its Zapak brand across the country by April. The project with capacity to seat one lakh gamers in three years would involve an investment of about $100 million.

The group will also initiate a massively multiple online games (MMOG) in the country. Zapak little over a month old and already has around 15,000-20,000 new users everyday, half a million registered users and an ARPU of Rs 200-300.

Now that's something sensible because there is no Google involved, what say ??
